Jeff L. Lieberman – Writer/Director
Jeff Lieberman discovered the music legend Nina Simone when he was 16 years old, and has been a fan ever since.  His brand new in-depth documentary on the music legend will be premiering in January 2015, and will offer fans an in-depth look at the origins of Nina’s many recordings, and her unique style, politics and musical journey.  Weaving interviews with friends, family, band members and the people she impacted, Nina’s defiant music comes alive through performances and recordings, with an insight never revealed before.

Jeff’s most recent Academy Award-Qualifying documentary film, “RE-EMERGING: The Jews of Nigeria” has been heralded by The New York Times, NPR, The Hollywood Reporter, BBC, Village Voice, Newsday and Indiewire for its innovative storytelling, and thorough research into a largely unknown past.  The film opened theatrically in 2013 in both New York and Los Angeles, and screened at festivals in Toronto, Boston, Washington, Vancouver, London, Switzerland & Israel.

Jeff is the founder of Re-Emerging Films, an innovative documentary production company producing long and short form programming for the web, televisions and cinema.  Previous to this, Lieberman was a National Producer and Writer at CBS News.

Sam Waymon – Brother & Longtime Bandmember of Nina Simone
Sam Waymon began his musical odyssey playing alongside his sister, Eunice. His sister left North Carolina in the '50s and traveled north to pursue her career. Along the way she dropped her given name and became one of music's most influential and independent musicians, known as Nina Simone. Sam worked with his sister for over ten years but finally broke away to develop his own style that combined everything from gospel to jazz.

Sam went on to record for record labels like:  RCA, and Polygram, and has worked side by side with legendary artists like Miles Davis, Donnie Hathaway, Roberta Flack, Phyllis Hyman, and groups like, The 5th Dimension, and Main Ingredient.  He also starred in the feature film, "Ganja and Hess" (directed by Bill Gunn), and wrote the film's score.  That led to writing songs and scores for the film, "Weeds", and Jonathan Demme's "Philadelphia".  Sam "Magic Man" Waymon lives in Nyack, NY where he performs regularly throughout New York City and the surrounding area.

Salamishah Tillet – Scholar on Nina Simone
Salamishah Tillet is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently both teaching a course and writing a book on Nina Simone.  Salamishah guest blogs for The Nation, has appeared on the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, and NPR, and written editorials for The Chicago Tribune and Washington Post magazine, The Root.  She wrote the liner notes for John Legend and The Roots’ three-time Grammy award-winning 2010 album, Wake Up!, and in 2011, she interviewed Gloria Steinem on the future of the feminist movement at the TedxWomen conference.  Salamishah received her Ph.D. from Harvard University and her M.A.T. from Brown University, and she is the co-founder of A Long Walk Home, Inc., a non-profit organization that uses art therapy and the visual and the performing arts to end violence against girls and women.

Leopoldo Fleming, Longtime Percussionist to Nina Simone and Miriam Makeba
Besides his own music and theater projects, Leopoldo has played, recorded, toured with a cornucopia of great artists such as Nina Simone (for 31 years off and on), Miriam Makeba, in recent years “Sing The Truth” (w. Dianne Reeves, Lizz Wright, Angélique Kidjo, SimoneKelly, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stacey Kent and more), TheSymphony of the New World, Harry Belafonte, Monica Zetterlund, The String Reunion, Eartha Kitt, The World Bass Violin Ensemble, Beaver Harris, Novella Nelson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Sonny Stitt, Richard Grove Holmes, Queen Esther Marrow, Leon Thomas, Randy Weston (in big band format and in a trio including Ron Carter), Archie Shepp, Bob Cunningham, Kenny Barron, Horace Parlan, David Murray, The Boys’ Choir of Harlem, a number of local world class musicians in Vienna and Copenhagen respectively, the all–stars Lou Caputo Not So Big Band, and once a year he tours the Far East with the New York Harlem Singers.
